in consumer news this morning, if your job hunting the latest job news may sound promising according to a report by the national employment law project. more than half of new jobs created have been low wage positions. the new pay 13.83 an hour or less and includes positions in retail, sales, food service and manual labor. the findings back up the department of labor report that showed more than half of workers who lost jobs during the recovery and found new ones were working for lower salaries. u.s. airways and american airlines now possibly talking about a merger according to the financial times and any merger between the u.s. airways and american weight that could compete head to head with industry leaders like delta and united continental. american airlines parent company amr filed for bankruptcy protection last year go before turning on the coffee maker, listen up.

left behind by isaac. we will look at that ahead on this monday morning. but first, check out the new video from washington, d.c. where remnants of isaac being felt. look at this emergency responders that spent most of the night in dc helping people whose cars were stuck in the fast rising waters. the flooding also prompted the closures of several metro transit stations. >> forecasters say flash flood something possible for the next few days. we seem to miss a lot of the rain this weekend. pretty pleasant up here. 40 miles down the road, not so much. >> we need the rain but nothing like that. so let's go over to lynette charles and see what's going on and what's in store. >> all right. what we have in store is more showers and scattered storms as we go through the rest of today and also this morning. we are picking up on the wet weather. let's start out around chestertown as we look at hefty shower to the south of that. we can see it off toward the west of churchill and we are seeing more showers around

henderson and around goldsboro. let's go back upwards towards elkton where we are seeing showers around that area as well. light in nature but the grounds on wet side and we are dealing with reduced visibility out there. we have some patchy fog with all the cloud cover and temperatures have been held up quite a bit. we are at 74 degrees right now in arnold and we are also looking as we go throughout the day here's forecast for you. as we head through the remainder of the morning, 76 and by lunchtime, temperatures close to 80 but not quite. over to you. >> the fast moving fire across parts of baltimore city sunday. a man was trying to save his neighbor from a home doing all he could just didn't make it. >> abc2 news sherrie johnson is here with more on the deadlyfire and do authorities know anything about this or is this investigation going on for a while. >> reporter: firefighters and arson detectives are trying to figure out how the fire started and whether the smock alarms were working at the time. the fire broke out just after 6:30 on sunday night. firefighters raced to the 2200

block of east north avenue in the city's broadway east neighborhood. crews found heavy fire and thick smoke in that row home. neighbors went into action. one man who tried to rescue his elderly neighbor may have a fractured leg. now once inside, crews found an 88-year-old woman dead of smoke inhalation and burns. >> we learned that this was an 88-year-old woman. does live with other relatives in the home but no one else was in the house at the time. >> reporter: so far no word on exactly what caused the fire at 33 firefighters fought the one alarm fire and it was contained to the row home and the woman's death marks the city's 5th fire fatality this year. also heavy fire across parts of a restaurant in dundalk a fire gutted roz's crab house -- ross's crab house last night. 30 people were inside when someone saw smoke coming out of basement. everyone made it out safely and the fire truck happened to be passing by when news of that

fire broke out. they tackled it within second and there was stale lot of damage done to the restaurant. two minutes after five right now. the anne arundel county council taking up several bills especially tomorrow preventing taxpayers from footing the bill on large legal settlements. this stems from a issue facing john leopold. first bill requires settlements and the second would allow the county attorney to pursue the recovery of damages from the employee. leopold is facing charges of misusing security detail for personal and political business. his trial is set for january. parts of louisiana are under water this morning days after isaac came ashore. and today president obama scheduled to tour the damage and meet with state officials. this is what it looks like right now in plaquerman's parish. officials near new orleans intentionally breached one of the levees to drain the flood water out. as you can see, there are still

several inches of water remaining. if we try to wait to pump it out, it will take weeks if not months. by breaching the levee in strategicic areas in low lying areas we will get the bulk of the water out in five to seven days hopefully. >> homeland security secretary toured the gulf coast yesterday. mitt romney was there on friday. and we have seen video from earlier d.c. everything they had to deal with. but looks like this is not going to impact us. >> well, we are going see the remnants of isaac moving in here and that couple with a stationary front to the south is going to keep us settled and we have an eastern flow but the good news to point out this morning is for louisiana, points northward are going to dry out so they could begin cleaning across the area. but we can see the counterclockwise spin remnants of isaac and the area of low pressure will begin to slide off toward the east and with that, it is going to be bringing us a chance for

thanks for staying with us on this labor day. it can be unsettling if yourtoddler bites another child or they are the one that is bitten but often your child is not trying to be mean. that's what doctors are saying now. toddlers can bite because they are teething or maybe they are frustrated or they need sensory stimulation. if your child bites another person it's important to make sure the bitten child is first okay. then tell the biting child in a neutral tone that biting is not acceptable and redirect them to another more positive activity. >> if your child is biting, it doesn't mean he or she is bad. it means they are a child going through a phase. depending on the situation in which the biting is occurring.

communication is important. >> doctors stress frequent conversations did have -- conversation was your caregivers if biting is a problem. nap time is crucial for your youngster but not always easy to get them to stop and rest. here are strategies to get your kid to take a nap. around 6 to 9-month-old, you should start getting your child into a routine for napping time. not -- don't wait until they are overly tired to put them down for a nap and kid are ready to give up naps if they can stay away all day and don't have a grouchy period around dinner time. middle school in west virginia must reorganize the classes to be coed by today. the school had same sex classes for students for several years but a judge ruled that it must go back to coed. this happened after a mother alleged the school was using gender stereotypes that hurt her daughter academically. for example she says her one daughter with adhd was frequently scolded for not sitting still while boys were encouraged to move around the

along the eastern shore just very light right now. we will begin to pick up more showers as we go throughout the day but look at the cloud across the area. we do have that eastern flow in here. also we have showers off toward the west and all this is courtesy of the remnants of isaac. this will push in as well and then we have this stationary boundary just to the south of us. so with that, that's going to keep us on the unsettled side. but also that tropical moisture moving in here from isaac. so we are very humid this morning and this humidity is going to linger as we head through most of the week. temperatures this morning, with all that cloud cover, yes, we are on the warm side or the mild side. temperatures in the 70s everywhere. 7 6 degrees if chesapeake beach. westminster at 73. and we are at 73 in teachesville and edge did -- stevensville and edgewood. we are talk about the humidity and we are dealing with another storm tropical storm leslie and we can see it to the norm and

east of puerto rico right now. not very impressive. night strengthening. it's encountering northwesterly sheer and that's not conducive for strengthening. but we can see the path of tropical storm leslie. the wind sustained at about 60 miles an hour and it's forecasted to become a hurricane as we go through the next several days. but the good news is that it looks like it will stay away from land from the u.s. i should say because it has its eye set on bermuda. now the future trend not picking up on a whole lot in terms of wet weather all the way through the day. it will be off and on. so scattered showers and storms. that will linger as we head into tomorrow. and even wednesday, but here's hour by hour forecast for you as we do have the showers. as we go throughout the day and the 7-day forecast doesn't look too bad especially as we head into friday. we will begin to dry the weather out a bit. over to you. >> all right. thanks so much lynette. we will take a live look outside. you are looking at 95 at 395. this is an area where we have seen so many congestion because of the grand prix and right
